Product Details

Our beautiful wooden Montessori Climbing Triangle is handmade in Canada can be purchased with or without ourtwo sided wood ramp. It can be easily folded for storage by removing the knobs.

Our Triangle is made from a combination of solid maple and baltic birch plywood. The natural wood is great for grip while little one's learn to climb, no need to worry about them slipping around. The natural material also provides an additional sensory experience for children.

We believe theTriangle is best left unfinished but if you decide to finish it as your little one gets older and is no longer at risk for easily slipping or putting their mouth on the Triangle, we recommend the Fusion Mineral Top Coat as a low VOC, eco-friendly option.

The ramp is two sided, one side is flat and the other has raised climbing triangles on it.

Note that you can also choose to purchase it assembled or unassembled. If you have a drill, it can be assembled in 20 minutes or less, as you can follow along with our walkthrough assembly video.

It can be picked up same-day for FREE in Toronto or shipped for $35-$65 across Canada, depending on size and assembly choice.

The Montessori Climbing Triangle can be brought outside,in dry conditions.

Why Buy a Montessori Climbing Triangle?

One of the biggest advantages to the Triangle, compared to most other toys, is the number of years your child will enjoy playing with it.

It's great for even young children as a pull up bar but toddlers and young children as old as 6 years old will get the most from it.

It's a very open-ended toy with a variety of different uses (see below).

What Can We Do With The Montessori Climbing Triangle?

As a Canadian, you're also likely spending half of the yearcooped up indoors. TheTriangle provides an opportunity for young children to continue their gross motor development and gives themsomething safe to climb.

How is a Triangle a Montessori-Based Toy?

Itwas created by a doctor with very similar philosophies to Maria Montessori, Dr. Emmi Pikler. Dr. Pikler also believed in independent play, the importance offostering a child's awareness of itself and its environment, and child-led development. Her experience with infants and young children led her to conclude thata childs own movements andthe development of these movementsare a constant source of joy to them.

The Triangle allows children to exploretheir body, learn their own boundaries, and it responds to their climbing needs. It helps develop gross motor skills, physical strength and agility, confidence, and encourages free movement and free play.

What Can We Do With The Montessori Climbing Triangle?

The beautiful thing about it, is that it's a very open ended toy. There's the obvious uses like using it as a pull up bar, climbing it, sliding down the ramp, or connecting the ramp to other climbing toys (like the) to practice balancing on the slide, but it can also be used for more imaginative play, like covering it with a blanket to builda fort or tent. We've had many pretend campouts with ours.

Is It Safe?

The wonderful thing about it, is that young children can improve their gross motor skills with a tool that's perfect for their size. Jungle gyms are often designed for older children (and crowded with them!) so it can be harder for them to get around on most playgrounds. It provides a much safer option for young children to climb and explore their movements. Please note that while it's used to encourage independent movement, you still need be close to them while on it.Pikler Triangle Canada
